Giving Back: Teeing Off for Make-A-Wish

What a day! Thursday, July 27th our team gathered with 152 golfers and 28 volunteers for a day on the links. The weather couldn’t have been more beautiful, and our crew was game to have fun raising money for a good cause!

By the end of our tournament, silent auction, raffle, and delicious dinner together we raised an astonishing $41,000 for our friends at Make-A-Wish! We were also able to grant a fourteen-year-old young man’s wish that same evening, which is an honor we’ll never fully comprehend.

We cannot say thank you enough to everyone who spent the day with us! Whether you volunteered, sponsored the event, or joined us for golf, we are touched to see our community show up for this worthy organization.

Thank you to all of our event sponsors! Presenting Sponsor: Contract Interiors Inc. Premier Sponsors: Glowing Hearth and Home, J & H Wall Specialties, David Charlez Designs, AJ Berger Construction, Krech Exteriors, M & E Catalyst Group, Scherer Bros. Lumber Co.

Best of Woodbury 2017: Best Builder

We’ve had an exciting and busy year at Custom One Homes! From The Parade of Homes to The Luxury Home Tour, to launching our Charity partnership with Make-A-Wish Minnesota and growing our staff; there have been countless joyful changes. However, it’s this most recent honor that fills us with the most humble appreciation, Woodbury residents voted us their Best Builder of 2017!

Our commitment to this community is deeply rooted, and this recognition means the world to us. What makes this award even more meaningful is knowing what stiff competition we were up against; the runners up in our category are impressive and talented professionals, we’re proud to be named alongside them.

Thank you again for this show of support, Woodbury. We love what we do, and are eager to continue growing, giving, and working in this community. Let’s build some more beautiful homes together!

Giving Back: Granting Andy’s Wish

If you follow Custom One on Facebook, you’ve probably seen us post quite a bit about our partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation this year. Staying connected to our roots, giving back, and cultivating generosity are all important values to us. We love helping families create beautiful homes, but we’re also passionate about using our resources to build up our greater community. Along with our friends at Make-A-Wish Minnesota, this summer our team had the privilege of meeting a young man named Andy.

In cahoots with his parents and under the guise of looking at his mom’s latest work project, Custom One’s owner, Todd, recently gave Andy and his family a tour of our Luxury Home. However, instead of just getting a glimpse of the home’s garage, the excursion ended with an exciting surprise: they’re heading to Disney World! Andy is growing up with a rare, but thankfully treatable, heart disease. Although his Shone’s Complex does require careful monitoring, Andy’s parents are still determined to provide him with everyday childhood experiences.

Everyone at Custom One felt moved by this family’s story – we don’t think there was a dry eye in the house when Andy received his surprise! Thank you to our friends at Make-A-Wish for making this moment possible, our team for facilitating the event, and to the Midwest Home for documenting our memorable day. Browse through the images below to get a better glimpse of this sweet family and our joy-filled afternoon together.

Home Spotlight: Glamorous Traditional

Spring 2017 has been full of exciting projects at Custom One – our team has never been busier! From forging meaningful partnerships to breaking ground on neighborhoods to closing on beautiful client homes, we’re enjoying each new venture. One of our favorite projects we completed this spring was this trendy and elegant family home.

Built in Woodbury’s growing Twenty-One-Oaks community, this stunning, traditional two-story is the definition of sophisticated style. Each room is a perfect balance of classic taste and bold choices; from the glitzy kitchen pendant lights to the peacock blue office walls. We loved partnering with our colleague Lisa Robbins of Design Créatif to help these clients create unique spaces; we adore homeowners that are willing to take design risks!

Floor to ceiling, this gorgeous home is a haven of interior inspiration. Browse through more images below to get a better glimpse of traditional, family-centered spaces set to the tune of contemporary aesthetics.

Playful and Personalized Kids Spaces

One the most appealing aspects of building a custom home is the opportunity to tailor spaces to your family’s unique lifestyle. For many parents, in particular, that means creating rooms and areas that reflect the interests of their children. There is nothing like the joy of watching your child discover the passions, talents, and activities that make them tick; every parent wants to see their kids pursue what they love.

Since no family or child is the same, it’s no wonder we’ve seen every variety of playful and personalized kids space under the sun. Whether designing a studio suited to a Prima ballerina in training or a sports court equipped for a future MBA All-Star; from creative craft spaces to inspiring playrooms to calm study spots; if you can dream it, we can do it!

Besides building bedrooms for future artists, chefs, and engineers, we also create spaces that facilitate that elusive parental desire: family time. We love designing places where families can relax and enjoy each other’s company; rooms ready for cozy movie nights, epic Monopoly faceoffs, and every teen’s favorite neighborhood hangout.

Home Spotlight: Urban Farmhouse

A beautiful take on the urban farmhouse trend, this home effortlessly combines modern technology with the charm of a simpler time. From the moment you walk through the front door, you’re struck first by the showpiece cable staircase and warm Joanna Gaines-style decor.

The centerpiece of the main level, the cozy open concept family room, and kitchen are bright and welcoming. It’s easy to imagine spending your evenings gathered around the island for happy hour with friends or cuddling by a crackling fire with family.

Classic white moulding, rustic wood, and natural textures repeat throughout the home; converging to perfection in the playful wallpaper office hidden by a sliding barn door. Our in-house team and collaborators outdid themselves with theses spectacular spaces; we cannot sing the praises of our crew, David Charlez Designs, and Design Creatif enough!

The walkout lower level was built to host with ease and features a mini bar, media room, and sport court. An urban refuge, this 1.6-acre lot rests in Woodbury’s up-and-coming Autumn Ridge neighborhood; a mere mile from top-notch East Ridge High School.

New Development: The Villas of Hidden Valley

Breaking ground this spring, we are thrilled to introduce our newest neighborhood, The Villas of Hidden Valley. An active lifestyle community in Cottage Grove, The Villas are geared towards rightsizing residents – those who are ready to build a home that better reflects their life stage.

Whether you’re craving extra room for grandkids, dedicated office or workout space, a more hosting-friendly layout, fewer outdoor maintenance concerns, or freshly updated finishes; these custom homes have got you covered! Situated on 50-60 foot lots, these cozy two bed, two bathroom Villas are ideal for people with busy lifestyles that desire a simplified spot to call home.

This new development addresses a growing need in the Cottage Grove housing market. With prices starting in the mid $300,000s, these lovely lots will offer maintenance free living, including tasks like lawn care, garbage, and snow removal.

In addition to the many convenient community features, the development is surrounded by excellent amenities. Located just south of beautiful Hidden Valley Park, the neighborhood is adjacent to sprawling walking trails, wetlands, woods, and ponds. Enjoy your peaceful suburban retreat in Cottage Grove, while only being 15-25 minutes away from the excitement of downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul!
